      Frequently Asked Questions

Please don't hesitate to contact us at h2hdrawings@outlook.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A House to a Home - Drawing Design Consultants specializes in a variety of project types, primarily residential (new build, layout design, extensions and alterations, listed / historic buildings etc), but also commercial and industrial.

A House to a Home - Drawing Design Consultant's team has extensive experience in historic preservation having worked with English Heritage on a number of listed projects., The focus has always been on restoring and preserving historic structures while meeting modern design codes and building regulations.

Absolutely, but only if you’re comfortable for us to visit, of course. We have a number of video communication platforms we can utilise – we pride ourselves on our personal service and approachable demeaner, and what better way to experience that than with a face to face meeting.

Once we’ve surveyed the property and discussed the brief, we aim to have the first draft set of drawings available within 10 business days, depending on the complexity of the project, of course.

We don’t charge extra for amendments; you can make as many changes as you like prior to submission for approvals – we want to make sure our collective visions are aligned before we submit anything for you.

If you’d like to make amendments after approvals have been granted, this is entirely possible but if the amendments are likely to affect planning or building regulations approvals there will be additional charges to consider, both in terms of re-submission applications and from us.

We don't ask for payment until we have submitted the plans for approval, be it either for planning or building regulations, that way you can rest assured that your only paying for the design you want to build.

According to Planning Portal, 8 weeks, however, the planning system is vastly under resourced at the moment, and whilst the government are implementing measures to improve the system delays are still likely – realistically, decision notices tend to be received between 8 and 12 weeks. This all depends on how many queries are raised by the local authority, and whether the project needs to be taken to committee (committee meetings only occur on certain dates throughout the year) following ward member concerns etc.

Conditional approval is usually less than 4 weeks. Again, this does depend on the complexity of the project.

Permitted Development rights are allowances within the planning system that mean you can build certain extensions and alterations without the need for full planning permission. We are creating a separate page that illustrates exactly what you can and cant build via permitted development shortly – watch this space!
